- Year-round UK running/hiking: Yes. British weather is unpredictable. GTX keeps your feet dry without overheating
- Summer trail racing: Not always. Non-GTX models are lighter and more breathable for dry conditions
- Commuting and daily wear: Yes. Walking to work in rain with wet socks is avoidable
- Deep puddles and stream crossings: No. GTX is waterproof to ankle height only. Submerging the shoe lets water in from the top
