How does the women's Salomon last differ from men's?

Women's Salomon trail shoes use a genuinely different last shape — not a scaled-down men's version. The women's last is narrower in the heel cup, with slightly more volume through the forefoot and a different midsole cushioning tune adjusted for average female weight and gait characteristics. This means women's sizes fit and perform differently from equivalent men's sizes on the same shoe model.

Which women's Salomon shoe is best for UK trail conditions?

For the variety of surfaces typical on UK trails — wet grass, rooted paths, compacted track and some hardstanding — XT-series styles with Contagrip® MA outsoles perform well across all conditions without specialising too heavily in any one surface. For dedicated mud and technical terrain, styles with Contagrip® TA provide significantly better bite but are less comfortable on harder surfaces.
