Which Catini piece should I buy?

It depends on what you're dressing for. For everyday warm-weather wear the Firenze Plain mercerised cotton t-shirt is the entry point — mercerised cotton takes dye deeper and holds its shape better than standard jersey. For smart-casual, the Alcorto Chino short in Beige or Stone sits above the Baratti Versatile nylon short, which is the better choice if you want something that packs down and dries fast. For trousers, Intorno Tech is the technical stretch option, Leggero the lightweight five-pocket, and Coporto Joggers the relaxed end. Outerwear runs to the Trentino Tech jacket and the Il Vento windbreaker.

What sizes does Catini run in, and how does the fit come up?

Two size runs. T-shirts, hoodies, jackets, jersey shorts and tech trousers run M, L, XL, 2XL and 3XL. Leggero trousers and Alcorto chino shorts run by waist — 30, 32, 34, 36 and 38. Catini is cut to an Italian fit, which sits closer through the body and shoulder than most British and American brands. Is Catini worth it against Sandbanks or BOSS at the same price?

They are aiming at different things. A Catini mercerised cotton t-shirt sits a step above a Sandbanks t-shirt in price, so Catini is the step up in fabric — mercerised cotton and technical nylon rather than standard jersey and cotton. Against BOSS, Catini is the cheaper way into Italian-cut sportswear, with a BOSS jacket at this level costing noticeably more than Catini's equivalent. What you are paying for with Catini is the fabric and the cut rather than the badge.
