Saucony Sizing Conversion
Saucony is one of the most reliably true-to-size running shoe brands on the market. The Ride, Guide, and Triumph series all fit consistently with standard UK sizing, making Saucony a safe buy if you already know your UK shoe size from Nike or Adidas.
The one caveat: Saucony's standard width (D for men, B for women) runs slightly narrower in the forefoot than Nike's standard last. Performance racing models like the Endorphin Speed and Endorphin Pro have a noticeably snug fit. If you have wider feet or prefer a roomier toe box, Saucony offers wide versions (W suffix) on key models.
1 | How Saucony Fits
Saucony is an American brand founded in 1898, and its shoes are built on a well-engineered D-width last (men's standard) or B-width last (women's standard). The brand is consistent: the vast majority of its range fits true to size, and half-size increments are offered across all key models.
Saucony Sizing at a Glance
- Ride, Guide, Triumph: True to size — order your normal UK/US size
- Endorphin Speed, Endorphin Pro: Snug fit — consider half a size up if wide-footed
- Peregrine (trail): True to size, moderate volume
- Wide options: Available on Ride and Guide (W suffix)
- If between sizes: Go up, not down
Compared to Nike React Infinity or Adidas Ultraboost — both of which tend to be more generous in the toe box — Saucony's standard fit is slightly more precise. This is not a disadvantage for most runners, but customers switching from wide-fit footwear should be aware of it.
2 | Model-by-Model Fit Notes
Ride 17
True to size. The benchmark Saucony model. Reliable, comfortable fit with a medium-volume toe box. Most recommended starting point for new Saucony buyers.
Guide 17
True to size. Stability shoe with a structured medial post. Slightly firmer feel than the Ride. Available in wide (W) fit.
Triumph 22
True to size. Max-cushion daily trainer. More volume through the toe box than the Ride. Good for customers who like a little extra room.
Endorphin Speed 4
Slightly snug. Performance trainer with a nylon plate. The forefoot is narrower than the Ride. Wide-footed runners should go half a size up.
Endorphin Pro 4
Snug fit. Racing shoe. Narrow profile, performance wrap. Not recommended for wide feet. Order your standard size unless your feet are wide.
Peregrine 14
True to size. Trail shoe. Medium volume, good lockdown. No wide options. Toe box is slightly more protective due to trail guards.

4 | Wide Options (W Suffix)
Saucony offers wide-fit versions of selected models, labelled with a W suffix — for example, Ride 17W or Guide 17W. Wide versions are approximately 5mm wider in the forefoot than the standard D-width (men's) or B-width (women's).
Wide Fit Available On
- Ride (men's and women's)
- Guide (men's and women's)
- Triumph (selected seasons)
Wide versions are not available on the Endorphin Speed, Endorphin Pro, or Peregrine. If you need extra width in a performance model, going half a size up is the only option — though this trades length accuracy for width. Trying in store is strongly recommended.
Wide Fit vs Half Size Up
A wide (W) shoe adds forefoot volume without changing length. Going half a size up adds length as well as a small amount of forefoot volume. If your length is correct but your feet are wide, always choose the W version over sizing up.
5 | Measuring Your Foot
How to Measure
- 1. Stand on a piece of A4 paper on a hard floor
- 2. Trace around your foot — pencil held vertically
- 3. Measure heel to longest toe in millimetres
- 4. Measure both feet. Use the longer measurement
- 5. Match to the foot length column in the conversion table
- 6. Between sizes? Go up
Measure in the afternoon when your feet are at their fullest. Wear the socks you plan to run in — thick running socks can make a difference of up to half a size. Saucony shoes can feel slightly firmer in the first few wears before the midsole breaks in.
6 | Saucony vs Nike vs Adidas: Fit Comparison
| Brand | Fit Width | True to Size? | Wide Options? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saucony Ride/Guide | Standard D / B | Yes | Yes (W suffix) |
| Saucony Endorphin | Narrow-standard | Slightly snug | No |
| Nike React Infinity | Medium-wide | Yes | No |
| Nike Pegasus | Standard | Yes | No |
| Adidas Ultraboost | Medium-wide | Yes | No |
| Adidas Samba | Narrow | Run snug | No |
For everyday training, Saucony Ride and Guide fit almost identically to Nike Pegasus in terms of length. The key difference is that Saucony's standard width is slightly narrower in the toe box than Nike's React or Adidas Ultraboost. Runners used to Nike's roomier toe will notice this, particularly during longer runs when feet expand.
