Best Saucony For…

Best Saucony for walking

The best Saucony for walking is the Triumph. Its maximum PWRRUN+ cushioning is built to absorb repeated impact, which is exactly what helps on long walks and hours of standing. Running-shoe engineering — cushion, support, durability — translates directly to walking comfort.

Best for: long walks, all-day standing, comfort-first walkers.  ·  Consider instead: the Ride for lighter everyday walking at lower cost.

Best Saucony for flat feet

The best Saucony for flat feet is the Guide. Flat feet commonly pair with overpronation — the foot rolling inward — and the Guide's stability structure supports the arch through the stride without feeling rigid. It also has room to fit a prescribed orthotic.

Best for: flat feet, overpronators, orthotic users.  ·  Consider instead: the Ride if your feet are flat but neutral and pain-free.

Best Saucony for marathon training

Rotate the Ride or Triumph for the miles and the Endorphin Speed for the speed. A marathon block needs a cushioned daily trainer for easy and long runs, plus one faster shoe for tempo and race-pace work. To race the marathon itself fastest, step up to the carbon Endorphin Pro.

Best for: a full marathon training rotation.  ·  Consider instead: just the Endorphin Speed if you want one do-everything trainer.

Which Saucony should a beginner buy first?

A beginner should buy the Ride first. It's neutral, well-cushioned and versatile, with no learning curve — the safe, forgiving choice while you build mileage. The only reason to start elsewhere is if you already know you overpronate.

Best for: new runners with a neutral gait.  ·  Consider instead: the Guide if you overpronate or have flat feet.

Best Saucony for trail running in the UK

The best Saucony for UK trails is the Peregrine. Deep, aggressive lugs and a protective rock plate give confident grip on the wet, muddy, rooty ground typical of British trails, while staying light enough for shorter fast runs.

Best for: wet UK trails, short-to-mid distance.  ·  Consider instead: the Xodus for more cushion on long ultra-distance days.

Do I actually need a stability running shoe?

Only if you overpronate. If your foot rolls noticeably inward, or you've been advised to correct your gait, a stability shoe like the Guide helps. If you're neutral, added support you don't need can feel intrusive — the Ride or Triumph is the better choice.

Best for: overpronators, flat feet.  ·  Consider instead: neutral runners → Ride/Triumph.

Is the Saucony Ride good for walking?

Yes — the Ride is an excellent walking shoe. Its PWRRUN cushioning absorbs impact well and the outsole is durable enough for daily walking, which is why it's popular with people who walk distances or stand for long shifts.

Best for: everyday walking, mixed walk/run.  ·  Consider instead: the Triumph if you want maximum plush comfort.
Shop Saucony at OD's →
Is the Saucony Triumph good for walking?

Yes — and it's the most comfortable Saucony for it. The Triumph's maximum PWRRUN+ cushioning makes it ideal for long walks and all-day standing where plush comfort matters more than a light, fast feel.

Best for: long walks, all-day standing.  ·  Consider instead: the Ride for lighter, lower-cost everyday walking.

Is the Saucony Guide good for flat feet?

Yes — the Guide is built for exactly this. Its stability support helps control the inward roll common with flat feet, without the stiffness of a heavily-corrective shoe.

Best for: flat feet, mild-to-moderate overpronation.  ·  Consider instead: specialist orthotics if your pronation is severe.

Is the Saucony Ride good for beginners?

Yes — it's one of the most beginner-friendly trainers Saucony makes. Neutral cushioning, a forgiving ride and no learning curve mean you can focus on running, not on the shoe.

Best for: new runners, neutral gait.  ·  Consider instead: the Guide if you overpronate.

Is the Endorphin Speed good for everyday training?

Yes — it's one of the few "super-trainers" you can genuinely run every day. Its nylon plate is forgiving enough for daily mileage while still feeling fast, unlike a pure carbon racer you'd save for race day.

Best for: runners who want one fast, versatile shoe.  ·  Consider instead: the Ride if most of your runs are easy.

Is the Saucony Peregrine good for UK trails?

Yes — it's one of the best for UK conditions. Deep lugs and a rock plate give confident grip on wet, muddy, technical ground while staying light enough for fast running.

Best for: wet UK trails, short-to-mid distance.  ·  Consider instead: the Xodus for long, cushioned ultra days.

Worth It

Is the Saucony Ride worth it?

Yes — it's the best-value daily trainer in the range. The Ride combines moderate PWRRUN cushioning, durability and a versatile ride, sitting between the softer Triumph and the faster Endorphin models. That makes it the easiest single shoe to recommend for most runners' weekly mileage.

Best for: beginners, 5k–half-marathon runners, walkers, one-shoe runners.  ·  Consider instead: Triumph for max cushion, Endorphin for speed.
Shop Saucony at OD's →
Is the Saucony Triumph worth it?

Yes, if you want maximum cushion. The Triumph carries the most PWRRUN+ underfoot of the daily range, built for long, comfortable miles and time on your feet. The premium over the Ride buys plushness and comfort, not speed.

Best for: long-run comfort, heavier runners, all-day wear.  ·  Consider instead: the Ride if you want lighter and cheaper.
Shop Saucony at OD's →
Is the Saucony Guide worth it?

Yes, if you overpronate. The Guide is Saucony's supportive daily trainer — structured stability without feeling rigid. If your gait rolls inward or you've been told to use a stability shoe, it's the model worth paying for; if you're neutral, you don't need it.

Best for: overpronators, flat feet, stability seekers.  ·  Consider instead: the Ride if you run neutral.

Is the Endorphin Speed worth it?

Yes — it's the most versatile shoe in the Endorphin line. A nylon plate plus PWRRUN PB foam gives a fast, rolling ride for tempo, intervals and race day, yet stays forgiving enough for everyday training. Better value than a carbon racer you can only wear occasionally.

Best for: tempo runs, racing, one fast do-it-all shoe.  ·  Consider instead: the Pro to race fastest, the Ride for easy miles.
Shop Saucony at OD's →
Is the Endorphin Pro worth it?

For racing, yes. The Pro is the carbon-plated race shoe — PWRRUN PB plus a full carbon plate for maximum energy return at speed. Worth it if you race and want every second; for one all-round shoe, the Speed is the smarter buy.

Best for: race day, PB attempts.  ·  Consider instead: the Speed for training-plus-racing versatility.

Sizing

Saucony sizing UK: true to size or size up?

True to size for most runners. Saucony fits true for length with a standard-to-slightly-snug width. Take your usual UK running size and leave a thumbnail of toe room for swelling on longer runs.

Size up a half only if: you run long distances or have wide feet.
Shop Saucony at OD's →
Does Saucony run narrow?

Slightly. Saucony's standard width is a touch snugger through the midfoot than some brands. If you have wide feet, ask us about sizing or a wide fitting before you buy.

Saucony Ride sizing UK: half size up or true to size?

True to size for most. Take your usual UK running size in the Ride. Go a half up only for long-distance running or if you want extra toe room.

Technology

What is PWRRUN foam?

PWRRUN is Saucony's standard performance midsole foam — a balance of cushion and durability used across the daily range (Ride, Guide). PWRRUN+ (Triumph) is softer and lighter; PWRRUN PB (Endorphin) is the bouncy, high-return race foam.

PWRRUN vs PWRRUN+: what is the difference?

PWRRUN is the durable daily foam; PWRRUN+ is the lighter, softer premium version. PWRRUN+ feels plusher with more energy return (Triumph); standard PWRRUN lasts longer and costs less (Ride, Guide).

What is SPEEDROLL?

SPEEDROLL is Saucony's rocker geometry — a curved sole that encourages a forward roll through each stride, helping you carry pace with less effort. Most prominent in the Endorphin line.

What does FORMFIT do?

FORMFIT is Saucony's three-layer fit system that contours the foot for a secure, adaptive hold — the reason Saucony shoes tend to wrap the midfoot snugly without pressure points.

Care

How to clean Saucony running shoes

Hand-clean only. Use a soft brush with mild soapy water, remove the insoles and laces, and air-dry away from direct heat. Never machine-wash or tumble-dry — heat breaks down the foam and adhesives.

Shop Saucony at OD's →
How to protect Saucony PWRRUN foam from degrading

Keep them cool and dry. Heat is the enemy of running foam — never dry on a radiator or in a hot car. Rotate between two pairs so each fully decompresses between runs, and store out of direct sunlight to slow foam breakdown.

Is Saucony a good brand?

Yes — Saucony is a respected running specialist founded in 1898. Consistently recommended in running-specialty retail, its Ride, Triumph, Guide and Endorphin lines cover everything from daily training to racing, with foams proven over high mileage rather than fashion trends.
