P.E Nation Leggings Guide
Which P.E Nation leggings should you buy? It depends on how you'll wear them. P.E Nation builds several distinct legging lines — the full-length Vita, the 7/8 Recalibrate, the high-colour Radar and Highgate, the easy-wearing Wander — plus track pants like the Man Down and a rotating cast of styles from Avant to Takeover. They share the brand's gym-to-street DNA, but they're not interchangeable. This guide compares every line we stock at OD's, covers fabric, sizing, sets and care, and answers the question we hear most: does P.E Nation run small?
1 | The P.E Nation Legging Line-Up at OD's
P.E Nation names its legging lines the way it names everything — short, punchy, sport-referencing. The name tells you the cut; the colourway tells you the attitude. Here is every legging and track pant line currently stocked at OD's, with the colourways we hold. Live stock always shows on the P.E Nation leggings collection.
| Line | Format | Colourways at OD's |
|---|---|---|
| Vita | Full-length legging (plus a Vita trackpant) | Black Leopard, Marine Blue & Terquoise, Marine Blue I Strawberry, Smokestone Lemonade |
| Recalibrate | 7/8 legging | Black |
| Radar | Full-length legging | Mahogany Diva Pink |
| Highgate | Full-length legging | Leopard Diva Pink, Dark Navy |
| Wander | Full-length legging | Leopard & Smokestone, Thunder & Dusty Mint |
| Avant | Full-length legging | Black Biscuit |
| Convex | Full-length legging | Smokestone |
| Elevation / Rapid / Reaction Time / Reflect / Takeover | Leggings, one colourway each | Black, Caviar Lime, Black, Marine, Black respectively |
| Man Down | Track pant | Black & Leopard, Caviar, Smokestone |
| Swerve | Trackpant | Grey Marle |
A few patterns worth noticing before we compare the lines properly. Vita is the deepest line we carry — four legging colourways plus a matching trackpant, and it appears in more matched sets than any other legging in the range. The single-colourway lines — Elevation, Takeover, Reaction Time in black, Rapid in Caviar Lime, Reflect in Marine — are tighter, more seasonal drops: when a size sells through, the next delivery is usually a new style rather than a repeat. And the Man Down track pant carries the same name as the brand's signature jacket series, which matters for sizing — more on that in section 5.
Worth knowing
- Leopard runs right through the current range — Vita Black Leopard, Highgate Leopard Diva Pink, Wander Leopard & Smokestone, Man Down Black & Leopard. If you want the print, you can have it at any energy level.
- Status leggings appear at OD's only inside matched sets (with the Century jacket or Courtside sweat) — they're covered in section 3.
- Colourways rotate by drop and don't restock reliably. If a colour you want is in your size today, that's the moment.
2 | Full-Length Lines Compared — Vita vs Recalibrate vs Radar vs Highgate vs Wander
These are the five legging lines customers ask us to compare most. They all carry P.E Nation's sculpting, opaque compression construction — the gym-to-street fundamentals are shared. What changes is length, colour energy and how each one reads once you're out of the studio.
Vita — the core legging
If you only buy one P.E Nation legging, in our experience this is the one to start with. Vita is the widest line in our range — full-length, offered in everything from Black Leopard to the sherbet-bright Marine Blue I Strawberry and Smokestone Lemonade — and it's the legging P.E Nation pairs into the most sets, from the Stellar sports bra to the Shelter Sherpa jacket. The Black Leopard colourway is the one we'd call the safest first buy: the print does the styling work, the black base keeps it wearable with everything.
Recalibrate — the 7/8 option
Recalibrate is the cropped pick — a 7/8 length that finishes above the ankle, in plain black. In our experience the 7/8 cut earns its place two ways: it shows a trainer properly (no fabric stacking at the ankle), and it suits anyone who finds full-length leggings come up long. If your wardrobe runs minimal and your training runs warm, this is the line we'd point you at.
Radar — the statement colour
Radar comes in Mahogany Diva Pink — a rich brown-and-pink colour-block that is unmistakably P.E Nation. This is the legging for the customer who wants the brand's bold, retro-sport identity at full volume. It's a single-colourway line, so treat it as a drop: when it's gone, it's gone.
Highgate — print with options
Highgate is the line that splits the difference — available in Leopard Diva Pink for the maximalists and Dark Navy for the quiet end of the wardrobe. The matching Highgate sports bra (in Smokestone Lemonade, paired with Vita leggings as a set) shows how freely the brand mixes its lines, and in our experience Highgate's two colourways make it the easiest line to match to an existing kit bag.
Wander — the everyday pair
Wander leans soft in its palette — Leopard & Smokestone, Thunder & Dusty Mint — and it's the legging that turns up most often in P.E Nation's lifestyle pairings: with the Foundation muscle tank, the Summit sweat, the Shelter jacket and the Vita sports bra. In our experience it's the line customers reach for when the plan is school run, errands and a class somewhere in the middle.
The 10-second answer
First pair: Vita Black Leopard. Cropped: Recalibrate 7/8. Loudest: Radar Mahogany Diva Pink. Print or plain: Highgate. Everyday: Wander. Still torn? Call 01744 730985 and tell us what you'll wear them for — we'll tell you straight.
3 | Leggings as Part of a Set — The Matched-Outfit Route
P.E Nation built its name on the complete look, and a large share of the leggings we sell leave the shop as half of a matched set. Buying the set solves the problem that catches most people out with this brand: colourways sell through fast, and buying leggings now intending to "get the bra later" often means the bra is gone.
Sports-bra-and-legging sets
The classic studio pairing — bra and legging in one matched colourway, cut to be worn together:
- Stellar Sports Bra & Vita Leggings — in Marine Blue, and in Black Leopard Print.
- Vita Sports Bra in Leopard & Wander Leggings — print on top, soft colour below.
- Wander Bra & Leggings in Thunder & Dusty Mint — the full Wander look in one buy.
- Avant Bra & Leggings in Black & Biscuit — the most pared-back set in the range.
- Highgate Sports Bra in Smokestone Lemonade & Vita Leggings — cross-line matching done for you.
- Lumify Sports Bra & Convex Leggings and Pursuit Sports Bra Aqua & Convex Leggings — built around the Smokestone Convex legging.
Jacket-and-legging and sweat-and-legging sets
This is the gym-to-street formula in a single basket. The Century Jacket & Status Leggings set pairs the brand's best-known jacket with its Status legging; the Century Jacket & Man Down Trackpants set is the relaxed version of the same idea. Softer routes include the Shelter Jacket in Dusty Mint & Wander Leggings, the Shelter Sherpa Jacket in Smokestone & Vita Leggings, the Summit Sweat & Wander Leggings, the Courtside V Neck Sweat & Status Leggings, the Defend Sweat & Man Down Trackpant and the Foundation Muscle Tank & Wander Leggings set.
Two practical advantages to the set route. First, P.E Nation's colour-blocking is designed in pairs — the Thunder bra is cut to sit against the Dusty Mint legging, and matching it yourself from separates is harder than it looks. Second, sets let you mix sizes only if you buy the pieces separately — so if you're one size on top and another below, build your own set from the leggings collection and the jackets collection instead.
4 | Fabric & Performance — What P.E Nation Leggings Are Made Of
P.E Nation engineers its fabrics by activity rather than using one cloth across the range. The brand manufactures through its long-standing production partner Hotsprings and is B Corp certified, with recycled materials — including ECONYL® regenerated nylon and recycled polyester — used increasingly across the range. These are the fabric families relevant to leggings:
P.E LITE
Feather-light, quick-dry, four-way stretch — the brand's fabric for HIIT and running, where moisture management matters most.
P.E ULTIMATE COMPRESSION
Maximum hold for strength training. This is true compression — deliberately tight, which is why the size-up rule in section 5 exists.
EVERYWEAR & STUDIO SOFT
EVERYWEAR is a buttery-soft matte fabric with light compression, ideal for yoga and pilates; STUDIO SOFT is a peached, low-compression texture for unrestricted flexibility.
SEAMLESS
Rib-knit construction with zero chafe — the comfort-first end of the legging spectrum, true to size.
Construction is where the price point shows: bonded seams, ergonomic panelling and gold YKK hardware run across the range. The compression legging fabric is smooth, sculpting and opaque — squat-proof, with four-way stretch across the legging range — which is exactly what a gym-to-street legging needs, because transparency under tension is the failure that ends a legging's street career before it starts.
Each product page lists the fabric for that specific style — and because fabric determines both feel and sizing, it's worth checking before you buy. If a listing doesn't make it obvious, call us on 01744 730985 and we'll check the garment in hand.
5 | Sizing & Fit — Does P.E Nation Run Small?
The short answer: P.E Nation compression leggings are tight by design, and most customers size up one. That's not the brand running small so much as compression doing its job — but if you order your usual size expecting a relaxed fit, the first try-on can be a surprise.
At OD's, the legging styles we stock — Vita, Recalibrate, Radar and the rest — run XS, S, M, L and XL, verified against our live catalogue this month. Within that run, the brand's own fit rules are worth knowing:
- Compression leggings: tight by design — most customers size up one.
- EVERYWEAR and Seamless styles: true to size.
- Man Down series: the exception that runs the other way. Man Down pieces are deliberately oversized, and most customers size down one — so don't apply the legging size-up rule to the Man Down track pant.
The honest caveat: fit varies by style, because fabric varies by style. A compression legging and a peached studio legging in the same letter size will fit very differently. Before you order, check the fabric on the product page — and if you're between sizes or between styles, ring us on 01744 730985 or call into 44 Barrow Street and try them on. We profile what you'll use them for and how much compression you like before recommending a size, which is the single biggest reason our P.E Nation returns stay low.
Sizing in 10 seconds
- Compression legging → size up one.
- EVERYWEAR / Seamless → true to size.
- Man Down track pant → size down one.

6 | Styling: Gym to Street
P.E Nation's whole proposition is that the same pieces work in the studio and on the street — the brand's ethos is "Always Moving, Never Chasing", and its leggings are designed to be seen, not hidden under a coat. Its pieces are worn off-duty by the likes of Hailey Bieber, Margot Robbie, Bella Hadid and Jessica Alba, which tells you how the brand intends them to be styled: as outfits, not kit.
For training
Match within the system. The bra-and-legging sets in section 3 exist because the colour-blocking is designed in pairs — a Stellar bra over Vita leggings needs nothing else except trainers. If you're building from separates, P.E Nation's prints are engineered to clash well: leopard over smokestone, diva pink against mahogany. Add a P.E Nation tee or tank as the warm-up layer.
For the street
The formula that sells most at OD's: dark legging, statement top half. Vita or Highgate in a dark colourway under a Century, District or Shelter jacket from the jackets collection reads as a deliberate outfit rather than gym clothes — the jacket does the talking, the legging keeps the silhouette clean. In our experience the leopard prints work the street better than you'd expect, precisely because they read as fashion print first and activewear second.
The in-between days
This is where Wander and the Man Down track pant earn their keep — soft palettes and a relaxed line that pair with a sweat or sherpa for coffee, errands and travel. If your week is more school run than spin class, start there. The full brand styling picture — including how the jackets and sweats layer — is in our main P.E Nation brand guide.
7 | Caring for Your P.E Nation Leggings
Technical legging fabrics keep their shape, compression and colour only if they're washed like technical fabrics. The rules below are standard practice for performance stretch fabrics, and they're what we recommend in our experience selling and wearing the brand:
- Cold wash, 30°C or below, gentle cycle — heat is the enemy of elastane.
- No fabric softener, ever — it coats and degrades the stretch fibres that give a compression legging its hold.
- Wash inside out, with similar fabrics — zips, velcro and fleece are what pill a smooth legging face.
- Air dry only — tumble dryers and radiators damage stretch recovery. Leggings dry fast flat or hung.
- Never iron prints or bonded seams — and the leopard and colour-block styles in this guide are exactly the pieces that rule protects.
The common mistakes we see: bio detergents on technical fabric, washing leggings with fleece, and leaving them damp in a gym bag overnight. In our experience a technical wash treatment such as Nikwax Tech Wash is worth using on performance textiles. Treat a compression legging this way and the sculpt and opacity you bought it for last season after season.

9 | Frequently Asked Questions
Is P.E Nation a good brand?
Yes — P.E Nation is an Australian activewear label known for fusing retro-sport style with engineered technical fabrics, and it's B Corp certified with ethical, audited manufacturing through its long-standing partner Hotsprings. Its pieces are worn off-duty by the likes of Hailey Bieber, Margot Robbie and Bella Hadid. Our view from the shop floor: it's the brand customers choose when they want activewear that works as fashion, and the legging lines sell through quickly at OD's.
Where is P.E Nation from?
P.E Nation is Australian — founded in Sydney in 2016 by Pip Edwards and her co-founder, both of whom came from the fashion industry. The brand built its identity on the gym-to-street crossover and is now stocked by premium retailers worldwide, including OD's Designer Clothing in the UK. The full story is in our P.E Nation brand guide.
Does P.E Nation run small?
It depends on the fabric. Compression leggings are tight by design — most customers size up one. EVERYWEAR and Seamless styles are true to size. The Man Down series runs the other way: it's deliberately oversized, so most customers size down one. Fit varies by style, so check the fabric on the product page — or call OD's on 01744 730985 and we'll advise on the exact pair.
Which P.E Nation leggings are best for the gym?
For strength work, the compression styles give the most hold — P.E Nation's compression fabric is sculpting, opaque and squat-proof. For HIIT and running, the brand's quick-dry P.E LITE fabric is built for moisture management. In our experience the full-length Vita is the most versatile first buy, and the 7/8 Recalibrate suits warmer sessions and shows a trainer cleanly. Tell us what you train and we'll match the line to it.
Can you buy P.E Nation leggings as part of a set?
Yes. OD's stocks matched sports-bra-and-legging sets — Stellar with Vita, Wander in Thunder & Dusty Mint, Avant in Black & Biscuit and more — plus jacket-and-legging sets like the Century Jacket & Status Leggings and the Shelter Sherpa Jacket & Vita Leggings. Sets give you the colour-matched look in one buy; if you need different sizes on top and bottom, buy the pieces as separates instead.
P.E Nation or Sweaty Betty — which leggings should I buy?
Both are premium, and we stock both. Broadly: Sweaty Betty designs performance-first with a more understated look, while P.E Nation designs fashion-first with bolder prints and a stronger street identity — its leggings perform well in the gym and then carry an outfit afterwards. The full side-by-side, including fabrics and gym-versus-street strengths, is in our Sweaty Betty vs P.E Nation guide.
What sizes do P.E Nation leggings come in at OD's?
The legging styles we stock — including Vita, Recalibrate and Radar — run XS, S, M, L and XL, verified against our live catalogue in June 2026. Availability varies by colourway, and sold-out sizes don't reliably restock. If your size shows out of stock online, call 01744 730985 — we can check what's on the rail at 44 Barrow Street and what's due in.
