Men's Salomon Trainers
Men's Salomon trainers at OD's are built around the brand's core trail and mixed-terrain performance technologies — Contagrip® multi-density outsoles for traction across wet rock, roots and compact trail, sensiFIT™ upper construction for lockdown without pressure points, and Quicklace™ single-pull lacing for fast secure cinch-down.

How does Quicklace™ work and can I replace it?
Quicklace™ is Salomon's proprietary single-pull lacing system — a single cord runs through the upper, and one pull of the lace tab tightens the whole shoe simultaneously. It's faster than standard lacing for transitions and on-the-move adjustments. The lace cord and garage (the pocket that stores excess lace) can be replaced — Salomon sells replacement Quicklace kits. Standard round-cord replacement is also possible on most styles if preferred.
Do Salomon trail shoes run true to size?
Salomon trail shoes generally run true to standard UK sizing, but the sensiFIT™ upper wraps the foot more firmly than a traditional trainer last. If you have a wider forefoot, sizing up half a step is recommended — particularly on performance trail models. XT and lifestyle-crossover styles typically have a more relaxed fit and run closer to standard sizing across foot widths.
What is the difference between Contagrip® MA and TA?
Contagrip® MA (Moderate Abrasion) uses a lug pattern optimised for packed trail, gravel and mixed hardstanding — the lugs are shallower and more spaced for grip without mud-clogging. Contagrip® TA (Trail Aggressive) uses deeper, more widely spaced lugs designed to bite into soft ground, mud and loose terrain. For most UK trail conditions, MA performs better across the variety of surfaces typically encountered.
Are Salomon GORE-TEX® trainers worth it for UK conditions?
For trail running and walking in the UK, GORE-TEX® versions offer genuine waterproofing for stream crossings and sustained wet-trail conditions that DWR-treated fabrics can't match. The trade-off is reduced breathability — GORE-TEX® liner shoes are warmer and slower to dry after immersion. For autumn and winter use on UK trails, the waterproof benefit typically outweighs the breathability cost.
