Insulated options use either RDS-certified down or ThermoBall™ ECO synthetic fill — synthetic stays warm when wet and is easier to care for, making it the practical choice for everyday school-run and outdoor use. Fleece midlayers work as standalone pieces in milder weather or as an under-layer in colder conditions. Tracksuits and sets use moisture-wicking fabrics suited to sport and PE as well as casual wear.

What waterproofing do North Face kids' jackets use?
Kids' North Face jackets use DryVent™ — The North Face's own fully seam-sealed waterproof-breathable membrane. DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish is applied to the outer fabric; this can be reactivated with a low tumble dry cycle as it wears over time.
Is down or synthetic insulation better for kids' jackets?
ThermoBall™ ECO synthetic insulation is generally the better choice for kids — it stays warm when wet (inevitable), dries faster after washing, and is more durable under hard daily use. Down provides more warmth for weight in dry cold but loses performance when damp. If your child is mostly outdoors in UK conditions, synthetic is the practical call.
