About Peak Performance

Waterproof outerwear uses either GORE-TEX® Pro for the high-performance ski and freeride line, or Peak's own Hipe membrane system — available in three constructions: Hipe for everyday water protection, Hipe Core+ at 10,000mm+ for resort skiing, and Hipe Ace at 20,000mm+ with 4-way stretch for premium ski and outdoor use. Insulated pieces use wave-quilted down or PrimaLoft synthetic fill. The wave-quilting construction stabilises the insulation to prevent cold spots and maintains warmth consistently across the whole jacket. All down meets Responsible Down Standard (RDS) certification. Base layers use merino wool and synthetic blends for moisture management and temperature regulation across the layering system.

The range at OD's is selected from the mountain-to-city end of the range — insulated jackets, urban-outdoor softshells and core technical pieces that work as well in town as in the mountains. Sizing follows true European measurements with a slightly longer, slimmer Scandinavian silhouette — size down if between sizes. Free UK delivery over £50.

What is the Hipe waterproof system on Peak Performance jackets?

Hipe is Peak Performance's proprietary waterproof-breathable membrane. It comes in three levels: Hipe (everyday water protection), Hipe Core+ (10,000mm+ water column for resort skiing), and Hipe Ace (20,000mm+ with 4-way stretch for premium ski and alpine use). For the highest-performance lines, GORE-TEX® Pro is used — rated to 28,000mm+ with maximum durability. The choice of membrane corresponds to the activity intensity and conditions the jacket is designed for.

What is wave quilting on Peak Performance insulated jackets?

Wave quilting is a construction method that stabilises down insulation within the jacket — preventing the fill from bunching or migrating to create cold spots. Standard channel quilting can leave thin sections where baffles are sewn through the fabric; wave quilting distributes the down more evenly for consistent warmth across the whole garment. It's also a recognisable design detail across the brand's insulated jacket range.

How does Peak Performance sizing compare to UK sizing?

Peak Performance follows true European sizing with a slightly longer, slimmer Scandinavian silhouette compared to UK or American equivalents. If you're between sizes, the brand recommends sizing down rather than up. Technical shells are cut to accommodate a midlayer without sizing up. Base layers should fit close to the body for effective moisture management.

Is Peak Performance clothing suitable for skiing or just casual wear?

Both — the brand is deliberately positioned between technical mountain use and urban wear. The Vertical and Alpine lines are built for skiing and freeride with GORE-TEX® Pro shells, harness-accessible pockets and integrated balaclava options. The Frost and Coastal lines are specifically designed for urban-outdoor use — the same technical fabrics and weather protection, cleaner silhouettes suited to town and travel. OD's range focuses on the mountain-to-city pieces that work across both contexts.

How do I care for Peak Performance technical jackets?

Technical shells should be washed regularly with a specialist technical detergent (like Nikwax Tech Wash) to maintain breathability — avoid standard detergent which blocks the membrane. Tumble dry on low heat to reactivate the DWR finish. Down-insulated pieces should be washed with a down-specific detergent in a front-load machine, then tumble dried with tennis balls to restore loft.
